The HTML5 Microzone is presented by DZone and Microsoft to bring you the most interesting and relevant content on emerging web standards.  Experience all that the HTML5 Microzone has to offer on our homepage and check out the cutting edge web development tutorials on Script Junkie, Build My Pinned Site, and the HTML5 DevCenter.

So it looks like our new HTML5 Canvas Refcard proved interesting to you, our excellent DZone readers. Our general HTML5 Refcard has received a lot of downloads too -- so we've decided to go all-out and publish a whole series of Refcardz on emerging web technologies.

The massive tangle of new features, APIs, etc. that generally goes by 'HTML5' (whether or not the tech is technically part of the HTML5 spec itself) leaves us a lot to choose from, and we're planning to cover all the major technologies eventually. But when it came to pinning down a concrete publication schedule, we thought hard about the way web standards are working -- and realized that the importance of a standard depends, in great part, on developer adoption. Spec refinement and browser implementation, in other words, is up to you.

So we decided: why not ask our readers what they want to see first?

We're already planning a series on CSS3, so look forward to more CSS3 Refcardz announcements in the near future.

For other technologies, we pored over the HTML5 survey we ran a few months ago, mixed in a little editorial prognostics, and came up with a list of web technologies we're guessing you all would most like to see Refcarded next. You'll see our top four in the survey box below. (If we missed anything, feel free to post your request in a comment.)

So please vote and comment away, and help us determine what cutting-edge web technology our next Refcard will cover!

HTML5 is the most dramatic step in the evolution of web standards. It incorporates features such as geolocation, video playback and drag-and-drop. HTML5 allows developers to create rich internet applications without the need for third party APIs and browser plug-ins.  Under the banner of HTML5, modern web standards such as CSS3, SVG, XHR2, WebSockets, IndexedDB, and AppCache are pushing the boundaries for what a browser can achieve using web standards.  This Microzone is supported by Microsoft, and it will delve into the intricacies of using these new web technologies and teach you how to make your websites compatible with all of the modern browsers.
